A new manager at Jack’s Restaurant & Bar is helping to keep the popular venue on the road to success since taking over the helm recently.

David Woodward has joined the team at Jack’s at Hartham Park near Corsham having gained a wealth of experience in hospitality management throughout the UK in Europe, and is delighted to be applying his skills and expertise at Wiltshire’s favourite independent restaurant.

David began his training in Switzerland where he worked at several renowned establishments throughout the country including the Kulm Hotel in Arosa, hotel Ermitage in Kusnacht, and the Lipp Brasserie in Zurich.

Having made his mark across the channel, David moved to London where he worked at Sir Terence Conran’s restaurant, in King’s Road, London, Paul Heathcotes in Manchester and the Close Hotel in Tetbury. More recently he has worked running The Residence in Bath.

David moved to Corsham in 2007, where he currently lives with his partner Ewa and their cat Cookie.

David said, “Jack’s Restaurant & Bar has gained a great reputation across the region since it opened, and I’m obviously excited to be part of such an up and coming place. Having worked in some superb locations, it is great to have settled at a young, vibrant restaurant in the heart of the countryside.”

Since joining the restaurant in March 2009, David has held a series of specialist food events, including a gourmet night,  tapas night, or the Italian night.

David believes that a strong working partnership between the kitchen and front of house is vital to the success of any restaurant. By working closely with Head Chef Jamie Hirst and the kitchen team, David and the front of house staff ensure that the guests receive outstanding food and exemplary service.

He added, “My philosophy towards service is to ‘know what the customer wants before they even know what they want’ and that service is an art that, when carried out well, the customer knows they have had a great time and can’t explain why.

“Jack’s is a restaurant in a superb country location where people can come and have a great time and some delicious food, cooked using the best ingredients.”
